Old Bar Beach Festival Kombi Event
Old Bar Beach Fesitival holds the Australian record for the most Kombi/Transporter’s gathered in one area at one time. Each year a Kombi/Transporter Australian Record attempt is an integral part of festival celebrations and is held on the Sunday of the October Long Weekend. Kombi/Transporter owners are also encouraged to bring along their spare parts to participate in our annual swap meet which is held in conjunction with this event.
“Our family comes every year to the Kombi Fest, we love looking at the different models and talking to the owners about their vehicles. We were able to stroll around and chat with many other Kombi “lovers”. On Saturday we took part in the Kombi Parade into Taree and back, it was awesome! So many of us joined the Kombi Parade, we went north up the pacific highway then into Taree traveling along Victoria St. What a sight it was travelling over the Manning river back to Old Bar, people come out to wave at us and many other cars honked their horns and waved flags. The Parade ended up at Club Old Bar and everyone just talks about their Kombis over dinner and enjoy the Free entertainment. It is like having a Family reunion. We also picked up some parts from the swap meet that’s on over the weekend. We would recommend this as a fun thing for anyone looking for something interesting to do over the October long weekend.” Mr. J. Thompson. N.S.W.
It is now 63 years since the first Kombi left the production line – help us have a Kombi from each year on display in Old Bar
