Sunday of the October Long Weekend is when Kombis and VW Transporters and Utes gather at Old Bar to break the Australian record. Every year there are more and that record number goes up again.
To be part of the record breaking event, come to Old Bar for the Old Bar Beach Festival and register your Kombi on the day.
Registration cost is $2. We’ll give you a sticker to say you where there and put you in the draw to win $1,000 to keep that kombi going for another year.
Saturday of the October Long Weekend is the “Kombi Cruise” day.
Kombis and VW Transporters and Utes assemble on Old Bar Air Strip ready to cruise along Old Bar Road to the highway roundabout and back. The main street of Old Bar is lined with spectators to cheer the VW’s on.
The cruise takes about 45 minutes and is fantastic to be a part of.
“I was in the Kombi Parade in 2016. It was incredible to part of the parade, with so much appreciation from the spectators all the way along Old Bar Road. I can’t wait to do it again this year. Overall it is the best weekend for a Kombi owner all year. I’ve met lifelong friends at this event and it’s been great to share those kombi stories with so many other kombi owners”.
If you’re bringing your kombi, please check the registrations forms page for the terms and conditions. The most important items are that you must still be there to win the $1000 and that you must not move your vehicle between the hours of 8am and 4pm without an official escort.
